The Austrian Society of Internal Medicine (ÖGIM) was founded 1901 and its membership includes internists, internal medicine subspecialists, medical students and residents. Two of the main aims of the society are to promote and conduct research in the field of internal medicine and to sustain as well as develop the continuing education of internists. The will to enhance quality and effectiveness of health care is continuously bringing the internal medicine forward. The ÖGIM supports this progress and organizes among other things an annual congress as well as numerous seminars, “state of the art” lectures and workshops.
